Hydrangea Avantgarde
Year round flowering
Huge, long-lasting flowers
Avantgarde Hydrangea macrophylla, is a new type of long-flowering Hydrangea that will continuously develop new flowers. The huge 25cm flower of Avantgarde can last on the plant for over two months and will grow in size during this time! The habit of Avantgarde is neat and naturally compact with good branching and sturdy stems reaching a height of 50 to 70cm.
Flowers change colour - white, pink, green
Avantgarde flowers will first open white then over time will transform to a very light pink colour and finally to green as the flower matures. Keep Avantgarde fresh and full of flowers by removing the old flowers to encourage new flowers that will appear after about 12 weeks. Set against neat dark green foliage the Avantgarde mophead flowers look spectacular especially when the plant is covered with white, pink and green flowers all at the one time!
Best growing conditions
Hydrangea prefer a sun to dappled shade location and well drained soil. Due to the large leaves ensure there is sufficent water so the plant does not dry out. Avantgarde will respond well to a slow release fertiliser in spring, and a hard prune late winter to maintain shape, encourage new fresh growth and even more flowers.
How to plant
Suitable for indoor, garden, tub and terrrace. The compact habit of Avantgarde Hydrangea will give an impressive display especially when in full flower. Avantgarde is spectacular when used as a feature in courtyard garden, patio pots.
