  • Billy Can 'Crackerjack'

Billy Can® grasses are made for Aussie backyards and look great in both contemporary and eclectic garden layouts.

Use them for garden border plantings, or as a filler in-between shrubs.

    A cracker of a variety!

Crackerjack™ (Lomandra confertifolia rubiginosa) exhibits a strong, but graceful presence in the landscape. Its fine leaves hide the effects of the leaf tips drying out, caused by low rainfall in summer periods. Any brown leaf tips become virtually indistinguishable at a distance so that a fresh appearance is maintained year round. New seasons growth is blue, maturing to green with age.

    Best growing conditions

Crackerjack can be used in many applications from home gardens to patio containers. It performs exceptionally well in Zones 1 and 3 which experience dry summers. In Zones 2 and 4 which experience wet summers ensure that it is planted in free draining soils. Crackerjack likes sunny to partly shaded positions. Very good in dry conditions and tolerates moderate frosts. Climate Zones: 1 to 4.

    How to plant

The fine leaves of Crackerjack sway gracefully in the wind, which creates the feeling of a soft flimsy element, contrasting perfectly with hard paved surfaces. To fill large areas multi-plant with a spacing of 1m.

Co-plant with other Billy Can® varieties

Create a wonderful foliage display by co-planting the fine swaying leaves of Crackerjack with the strong blue/green leaves of Dianella Blue Stream, the low growing cascading varigated leaves of Carex Everoro, and the neat mid-green plumes of Dianella Streetscape. A great combination of colour and style.
