Billy Can 'Dinky Di'
Billy Can® grasses are made for Aussie backyards and look great in both contemporary and eclectic garden layouts.
Use them for garden border plantings, or as a filler in-between shrubs.
Dinky Di is a lush, pluming variety
Dinky Di (Dianella revoluta) forms a neat symmetrical plume of bright green foliage. This neat habit can be used to advantage in the garden to create formal garden designs by planting in rows or in shapes such as a diamond outline that can then be filled with flowering plants. Dinky Di also looks fantastic when used as a border along paths and driveways or when used as a ground cover of verdant green grass.
Best growing conditions
Dinky Di is extremely versatile and has performed well in all soil types and climatic regions of Australia. Dinky Di's leaves resemble those of Dianella caerulea, but has the clumping habit of a Dianella revoluta, with these attributes this variety will give a long term tidy appearance with minimal maintenance. Climate Zones: 1 to 4.
How to plant
Dinky Di will grow at different rates according to the climate of a region. For example in Melbourne’s cooler winter climate Dinky Di will grow to 25cm in height while in Sydney it will grow to 40cm. So to achieve a solid row of foliage we suggest a spacing of 30cm in Melbourne, and a wider spacing of 45cm in Sydney.
Co-plant with other Billy Can® varieties
In the garden or large patio pots the neat bright green foliage of Dinky Di will look great with the tall Liriope Evergreen Giant and the fine blue/green foliage of Lomandra Crackerjack.
